This larva's attack and defense are based on sound. By rapidly opening and closing the plates on its back, the larva produces powerful shock waves that are funneled through its cranial cavity. This results in a devastating pulse of sound powerful enough to roll a school bus. This chamber also serves as something of an ear canal, granting the ability of unmatched hearing.and making the larva nearly impossible to sneak up on.
